Our History

Originally Ross and Nancy Widman, two North American missionaries arrived in the country in 2006 and felt in their hearts the need to help eradicate poverty through education. With this objective they created a first Educational Center called 2nda Milla, which still works in the community of Friusa.

Extra Mile Hope Academy Bilingual School arose in 2021 due to the need to create a place for children from the Hoyo de Monteverde community who did not have a space in the Segunda Milla Educational Center; but at the same time the idea was conceived to attract families that have a stable economic condition, and are interested in their children receiving a bilingual education based on the Christian faith. In this way we can cushion the cost of operations to be able to cover the salaries of the teaching and administrative staff of the afternoon session in which most of the students receive sponsorship, from people of good will, for their studies.

Speech

From our Principal

I present myself before you with great joy and excitement as the new director of the Center. It is an honor and a privilege for me to join this educational community that values the growth and well-being of our children so much. In this 2024-2025 school year, I am confident that together we will achieve great success and overcome every challenge that comes our way. With the collective efforts of teachers, students, and, of course, each one of you, we will build a learning environment where children can flourish to their fullest potential.

My commitment to you is complete. I am here to support you, listen to you, and work hand in hand with each family. Your love, dedication, and responsibility are essential to the success of this educational project. We fully trust that, with God’s guidance, we will achieve great things and overcome every challenge that comes our way. We firmly believe that education should be a transformative experience that not only shapes minds but also hearts, and that is why everything we do is centered around the values of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I invite you to join me in making this year a cycle full of learning, growth, and joy. I trust that with the support of each one of you, we will surpass our goals and provide our students with the comprehensive education they deserve.

I am at your disposal for any questions or suggestions. Together, we will build an unforgettable year!
